When God Guides Your Path, Even “Failure” Isn’t the End

I’ve always been drawn to design. The colors, the layouts, the way a space or a project can transform how people feel—it’s something that lights me up inside. A few years ago, I decided to start my own design business. I had big dreams, high hopes, and a vision of perfection in my mind.
But here’s the truth: I never really gave it a chance to succeed.
I wanted everything to be perfect. My website had to be flawless. My services had to be perfectly packaged. And if it wasn’t perfect… well, I wasn’t ready to put myself out there. I never advertised. My website sat as an “under construction” page for three whole years. I was too afraid to fail, so I never truly started.
On the surface, it might look like a failure. But God has a way of working behind the scenes that we don’t always notice at first.
Even though my business never officially took off, I have never been without work. Job after job came through referrals. Opportunities came at just the right time, allowing me to stay home with my babies while still contributing financially. Opportunities I hadn’t even asked for—opportunities I didn’t earn in the traditional sense.
If that doesn’t show God’s provision, I don’t know what does.
Looking back, I can see that my “failure” was really a season of preparation. It was a season of learning patience, trusting Him, and understanding that His timing is perfect—even when mine isn’t. The business I didn’t launch fully was never the end of my story; it was a stepping stone to something bigger, something rooted in purpose, faith, and trust.
Now, as I build Rooted & Flourish, I carry those lessons with me. I know that even when things don’t go according to my plan, God is guiding the journey. My past experiences, even the ones I feared were failures, are part of the foundation I stand on today.
For anyone feeling stuck, afraid, or like their dream is slipping away—take heart. Sometimes, the very things we think are holding us back are actually a part of God’s plan for us. He’s always working, even when we can’t see it.
Trust Him. Take the next step. And flourish where you’re planted.
